FULL SAFARI ITINERARY
DAY 1 – Arrive Tanzania
Welcome to Arusha were you will be met and transferred to The Arusha Coffee Lodge which lies cradled in the endless acres of Tanzania’s largest coffee plantation. This exclusive boutique lodge has been designed around the farms’ original plantation homes, radiating the warmth and invitation of the old colonial plantation homes historically distinctive to the coffee plantations. Lunch and or dinner under own arrangement.
DAY 2 – Drive to Tarangire
After breakfast your driver guide will be waiting to transfer you in a private 4WD vehicle to Sanctuary Swala situated in the Tarangire National Park which has one of the largest populations of elephants in Tanzania. Its sparse vegetation, broken up by baobab and acacia trees, makes it a beautiful and special location. The drive from Arusha to Tarangire is approximately two hours, from the entrance of the park there is another one hour drive and there are plenty of game viewing opportunities en route. Have lunch and some time to relax before enjoying an exciting game drive by open four wheel drive vehicle. Due to the camp's secluded location you are unlikely to see many vehicles as you venture out into the national park. Return to Sanctuary Swala to freshen up before dinner.
DAY 3 – Full day in Tarangire
This morning awake to the sounds of the bush as a steaming hot cup of tea or coffee is served on your tent's deck. Today is a full day on safari with morning and afternoon game drives in the park famous for its large herds of elephants, with viewing at its best from July to October when the elephants migrate through the park in search of water. Breathtaking views of the Maasai Steppe and the mountains to the south make a stop at Tarangire a memorable experience. This afternoon there is time to take a refreshing swim in the pool or relax on your private deck with a cool drink, grazing out of the waterhole and watching as the game lazily congregates in the shade to escape the midday sun. Return to camp to freshen up before meeting around the campfire for a pre-dinner drink as you discuss the day's adventures.
DAY 4 – Southern Serengeti.
We depart with picnic boxes for the drive to Sanctuary Kusini a permanent tented camp in the southern Serengeti. The camp itself is built on a raised kopje surrounded by woodland - providing stunning views of the plains below from the main deck. Each tent has its own personal attendant to look after guests during their stay and a private wooden verandah with comfortable furniture. We will arrive in time for a hot restorative shower and dinner. Meal plan is full board and also includes laundry service and all beverages (with the exception of champagne & premium brands.
DAY 5 & 6 – Southern Serengeti
We depart with picnic lunches for a full day of game viewing into the heart of the Serengeti one of the world's largest wildlife sanctuaries and host to one of the world's largest land migrations. Every year 1.5 million wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara followed by hundreds of thousands of zebra, gazelle and other plains game in search of fresh grazing pastures. Sanctuary Kusini is ideally placed to catch the migration that can be round in this area of the park from mid December to April when the zebra and wildebeest drop their young. Following dinner retire to the kopje where you may take this rare opportunity to enjoy a star safari as the camp manager unravels the myths of the night sky. Meal plan is full board and also includes laundry service and all beverages (with the exception of champagne & premium brands).
DAY 7 – Drive to Ngorongoro
We depart with picnic boxes to We will stop at the Olduvai Gorge, known as the ‘Cradle of Mankind’ for a tour. It was here, in the Great Rift Valley, that the remains of early hominids dating back 2 million years were uncovered. After a picnic lunch our drive continues toward Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world. Our home for two nights is Lemala Ngorongoro offering guests an intimate and luxurious stay in a prime location on the crater rim, facing a lovely forest filled with sounds of wildlife, birds and the bells of Masai cattle. You will arrive in the late afternoon at the Lemala Ngorongoro Luxury Camp, for dinner and overnight.
DAY 8 – Down to the Crater Floor!
From Lemala Ngorongoro there is quick and easy access into the crater, guaranteeing superior, unforgettable game-viewing opportunities. There is no place like this anywhere else in the world. Ngorongoro truly offers an absolutely unique environment for wildlife viewing. First, you won’t see any giraffe or impala inside the crater; though they would love to graze the abundant vegetation, these delicate-legged animals find it nearly impossible to navigate their way down the steep cliffs. But because it is so enclosed and the crater floor is mainly open grassland, this conservation area is easy for game officials to patrol; the result is a healthy population of endangered species like the Black rhino and cheetah. Return to Camp for lunch with the afternoon free to enjoy its amenities and unforgettable setting. Meal plan is full board.
DAY 9 – Drive to Serengeti
Today we drive to Serengeti Serena set high on the saddle of tree-clad ridge commanding panoramic views over the endlessly rolling reaches and volcanic reefs of the Serengeti. Drawing its inspiration from the circular ‘Rondavel’ dwellings and winding paths of a traditional Maasai village, the Lodge features thickly-thatched, stone-built rooms, spaciously set amongst groves of indigenous trees that are cooled by sparkling streams and papyrus-fringed ponds. We will arrive for lunch and in the afternoon enjoy a game drive. Meal plan is full board.
DAY 10 – Into the Serengeti
After breakfast, we drive to Lemala Ndutu , the ultimate amphitheater for the wildebeest migration between December and April. The nine luxury tents are relocated from the Mara area of Northern Serengeti to this stunning Ndutu site between Dec and mid-April, purely to capture the boundless drama that accompanies the migration. The migrating herds of over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebra begin to arrive in December. Throughout February and March, the calving season takes place. We arrive for lunch and in the late afternoon set out for a game drive in the park. Meal plan is full board.
DAY 11 – Full day in Serengeti
Full day spent in the Serengeti with picnic lunch. The Serengeti National Park is undoubtedly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequalled for its natural beauty and the greatest concentration of plains game anywhere. Dinner and overnight will be at Lemala Ndutu.
DAY 12 – Drive back to Kilimanjaro
We depart early after breakfast for a long and scenic drive back to Kilimanjaro for your onward flight where your Tanzanian safari ends.
